About Neighborgoods

Hi, my name is Jodi and I am the creator behind The Neighborgoods, a Washington DC-based small business. My products are inspired by the beauty of food and how it brings people together – whether through sharing a bottle of wine, celebrating over a delicious cheese plate, or a mutual love of beets – and how gifts to remember those times can bring so much joy.

OUR MISSION is to bring smiles to faces and add some joy to our customers' everyday lives through gift giving, pops of color, and our fun sayings.

The Neighborgoods started as a side hustle back in 2014 while I also ran a graphic design business where I worked on everything from fashion illustrations to corporate reports since 2006. But it was a love of designing packaging for cookies I made for my annual self-promotional giveaway that began the shift in my career towards focusing on designing for clients in the food industry. To make that switch, I needed some food-related work for my portfolio, so I began illustrating family recipes and produce from farmers markets to put on my website.

Since it was close to the holidays, and because I was itching to get away from the computer to make some homemade gifts, I thought these new illustrated recipes would make great gifts printed onto dish towels for family and friends. I never managed to get them ready for that holiday season, but I did sign up for a screen printing class, bought a bunch of dish towels, started printing, and the Neighborgoods was born.

Since then we have added lots more designs and products! Each product is designed by me and hand-packaged with love by our small but mighty team in our DC home studio.
